La Cage

In my heart there lies a songbird
Singing perched in her cage
But as I cannot see her now
I only hear a word,
I only hear a page
Screaming with thoughts I disavow
Because of something that occurred
That threw the world to rage;
On winter wind she found another bough,
I barely stirred.
I wonder — was it sage?
How?
Almost?
Almost.
