Oh my darling please forgive me
For wronging you as I have done
But sometimes it is hard to see
When blinded by the summer sun.
So forgive me for my desire
To see you too close beside me,
Pray I am not thought a liar
For my poor heart’s frivolity.
And if some vain talk did transpire
That made your presence part from me,
I might throw myself to some fire
Before from guilt I am set free;
For what is a poet without a muse
And how would he live if her he did loose?
