Raven

I tried to whisper to you on this windless night

But you would not hear

Or I would not say

Does it matter, my dear?

I tried to whisper to you on this windless night

Weeping not, but wary that

The whispering should wither

And never be heard at all.

I tried to whisper to you on this windless night

From my unapologetic heart:

I do not regret what I felt

Only that I had to feel it.

I tried to whisper to you on this windless night

But somehow the wind – like some unseen raven – came and snatched it.
