O maiden bold and beautiful
Walking here alongside me
How can such joy be calm or dull
As that which I feel now with thee?
Surely gardens ever-lasting
Have blossums brilliant and rare
But thou with this world contrasting
Art a rose just as bright and fair.
O thy face would make fair rival
With those wives in Heaven waiting
But thine gives elegance revival —
Let those waiting keep awaiting:
Of Heaven’s lusts I am above
For I have Paradise in love.
